Regional Multi-Modal Center for South Texas
Over the last two years, the McAllen Foreign Trade Zone and the Economic Development Corporation in conjunction with Triple Crown Services, have been working on an innovative rail service to be prototyped out of McAllen, Texas.
The technology has been available for some time now, but the idea is new to the Rio Grande Valley, and has the ability to significantly improve the cost competitiveness of U.S. manufacturing, reduce wear and tear on Texas Highways, reduce fuel consumption, lower product distribution costs, and most importantly, improve safety on America’s highways.
On a daily basis this train will have the capacity to carry up to 150 standard RoadRailer 53’ trailers with one locomotive and one crew. Utilizing a priority rail service, our trains will be built daily in our state of the art rail yard, and depart nightly with destination to St. Louis, Missouri, Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Detroit, Michigan with intermediate stops in between.
*The Regional Multi-Modal Center for South Texas is scheduled to begin construction in Q3 of 2006.
